Salvatore Sortino

Salvatore Sortino received the
Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 1994 from the University of Catania and carried
out postdoctoral research at the CNR of Bologna
until 1996. In
the same year he joined, the University of Catania where he is Full Professor
of Chemistry. He was visiting scientist at the Max Plank Institute di Mulheim
(Germania), the University of Ottawa (Canada) and the University of Miami
(USA). He has authored more than 200 publications and 2 patents in the field of
photochemistry and he has delivered more than 60 invited talks to national and
international conferences. He has been scientific coordinator and principal
investigator of many national and international projects in the field of
nanomedicine and from 2015 is the coordinator of the PhD programme in chemical
sciences.
His current scientific interests focus on the development of
light-activatable nanoconstructs for therapeutic applications in the field of
cancer and bacterial diseases
